People, Prosperity and Planet for Sustainable Future

Tuesday | January 23, 2024 | 16:30 - 18:00

The President of IEEE Sensors Council cordially invites you to attend the 25th Year Anniversary event of the IEEE Sensors Council on 23 Jan 2024 in the BITS Pilani Goa campus. This is the closing event planned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the IEEE Sensors Council and it is scheduled in conjunction with our international conference, IEEE Applied Sensing Conference (IEEE APSCON 2024) which focuses on the applications of sensors.

The IEEE Sensors Council is one of the seven technical councils of IEEE devoted to sensors, theory, design, fabrication, manufacturing, reliability, and applications of devices for sensing and transducing physical, chemical, and biological phenomena, with emphasis on the electronics, physics, and reliability aspects of sensors and integrated sensor-actuators. The Sensors Council has 26 of the 39 IEEE societies as its members and through them the council connects to about 60% of IEEE memberships (~400,000 members worldwide). The council works with its member societies to serve the community in the multi-disciplinary technical areas of sensors.

During its 25th year of foundation, the council proudly aims to focus on activities which promote ‘Sustainable and Greener Planet’. In this regard on 23 Jan 2024 we are organizing a panel discussion focusing on the topic "People, prosperity and planet for sustainable future". This panel will discuss various initiatives by academia, industry, environmentalists, and government toward tackling issues such as green energy, clean water, circular economy, human development index - the challenges ahead as well as the steps we need to take – both individually and collectively.

This will be followed by an extravaganza and a banquet over the cruise.

We also encourage you to visit the page where we have listed the research papers that we have published in our journals in the last five years covering the broad topic of United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
